About PMI International
The Project Management Institute (PMI) was founded in 1969 by five foward-thinking individuals who understood the value of networking, sharing process information and discussing common project problems. After their first official meeting on October of that year at the Georgia Institute of technology in Atlanta Georgia, USA, the group officially incorporated the association in Newton Square, Pennsylvania, USA.
It is the world's leading not-for-profit professional association for project management. PMI has grown to over 260,000 members in 171 different countries. Our internationally accepted standards are printed in eight different languages. With over $10 trillion spent every year on projects -- and the average delivery time and cost both coming close to twice the original estimate -- it is no wonder the Project Management Institute is one of the fastest growing professional societies in the world!
We are dedicated to the advancement of the professional of project management and the development of the body of project management knowledge. PMI is recognized worldwide for setting global project management standards and as the certifying body for Project Management Professional.
The Project Management Institute (PMI) Global Operations Center (GOC) is located in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.
