The Impact of Diversity on Project Management

Category of the PMI talent triangle: Leadership

Summary

Organizations today are faced with ever-evolving, ever more demanding and diverse customers.  And Project Managers are tasked with driving efforts that meet those evolving needs. How can you help your organization keep up with and even gain get ahead of those changing needs?

Studies from leading research firms such as the Harvard Business Review, Kforce, Boston Consulting Group, McKenzie, and Clear Company as well as notable figures such as Dianne Crampton of the United Nations recognized TIGERS series to former Soviet Leader Mikael Gorbachov to Producer Director Noman Lear point to one real answer to this question – diversity in your employees.  But what does that mean for Project Managers? This session will explore that question and others.

Outcome

At the end of this session participants will be able to:

  • describe what diversity truly is and why it is so important;

  • understand why we fail to engage the people who could make our projects successful;

  • identify ways to help your projects and organization perform better by leveraging diversity.
